How Canopy's Security and FX Prices are tabulated

FX Price convention

Canopy stores all Fx prices only against the US Dollar. The convention is such that the

Foreign Currency Amount x Canopy Fx Rate = USD Amount

for example

  • When USDJPY = 105, the Canopy Fx rate will be JPY = 0.00952381

  • When EURUSD = 1.32, the Canopy Fx rate will be EUR = 1.32

The cross rate between two currencies is always derived from their exchange rates against USD (and the cross rate is never stored in the database). e.g. if we need to find the EURJPY rate above we will retrieve both the JPY and EUR exchange rates and arrive at it doing 0.00952381 / 1.32
